How to Add Your Listings & Events

In order to add your downtown business or organziation listing to the DowntownCanton.com website, you must first login, or sign-up as a new user. Once you have created your account, or logged in, complete all of the fields on the Add a Listing Page or Add an Event Page in detail.

Add a Business Listing

Listing Title: The name of your business or organization as you would like it to appear on the site.

Address: Enter your primary business address in the format “123 Street Name, City, State Zip”

Set Address on Map: Once you have entered your address, click on the “Set Address on Map” button. This will update the Latitude and Logitude settings and position the map marker. Do not change these fields

Google Map View: Select your preferred map type from Default Google Map, a satellite map or a hybrid map. If uncertain, leave this set on “Default.”

Listing Description: Replace the copy in the Rich Text Editor with content about your business or organization. This is a good space to use to describe your business, including details about your products and services, your mission or your history. You can also include images and links in this area.

Special Offers: Use this space to describe any special offers, discounts or other custom, temporary information. Note: If you use this area, make sure that you return to the site and update it regularly.

Time: Enter your regular business hours (ex. “Mon.-Fri. 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.) If you are occassionally open later or additional hours on special event dates, we suggest you post your regular daily business hours, and then add “Open for special events.”

Phone: Enter your phone number in the format (330) 123-4567

Email: Enter the general or most appropriate email address for people to contact your business.

Website: Enter your website address in the format: http://www.yourwebsite.com and make sure to include the “http://”

Twitter: Enter your Twitter account in the format: http://www.twitter.com/yourusername. Tip: If you are uncertain what you should put here, go to your twitter feed and copy the web address.

Facebook: Enter your facebook page URL here in the format: http://www.facebook.com/facebookusername

Category: Tick the checkboxes for ALL of the categories that apply to your business. Example: if you select “Casual Dining” make sure that you also select “Dining”; if you select “galleries” make sure that you also select “Arts.”

Tag Keywords: Enter keywords that describe your business here, separated by commas. (Ex. italian food, pasta, pizza, catering)

Add Images:Click on the “UPLOAD” button to add images to your listing. To add more than one file, press and hold the Control or Shift button on your keyboard and select multiple images. Note: Maximum of 2MB permitted. If your image size is greater than 2MB, please try resizing. Important Note: Images that display on DowntownCanton.com are displayed hoizontally at 580px x 480px. If you upload a photo at different dimensions, it will be automatically cropped when displayed.

Accept Terms and Conditions: In order to proceed, you must agree to our terms and conditions.

CAPTCHA Verification: To discourage spam submissions, we ask that you type the characters that appear in the box.

Once you have fully completed your listing information, click the button to “Review Your Listing.

On the next page, a preview of your business listing will appear. If you would like to make changes, click “Go Back and Edit” to return to the previous page. If you are satisfied with your submission, click “Publish” to post your listing.

NOTE: After you submit your listing, it will not become available on the website until after the Canton Development Partnership staff reviews and approves it.


Add an Event Listing

Event Title: The name of your event as you would like it to appear on the site.

Address: Enter the address of the event in the format “123 Street Name, City, State Zip”

Set Address on Map: Once you have entered your address, click on the “Set Address on Map” button. This will update the Latitude and Logitude settings and position the map marker. Do not change these fields

Google Map View: Select your preferred map type from Default Google Map, a satellite map or a hybrid map. If uncertain, leave this set on “Default.”

Event Start Date: Use the calendar widget to select your event start date, or type in the date your event begins using this exact format: YYYY-MM-DD

Event Start Time: Enter the time your event will begin.

Event End Date: Use the calendar widget to select your event end date, or type in the date your event ends using this exact format: YYYY-MM-DD

Event End Time: Enter the time your event will end.

Event Description: Replace the copy in the Rich Text Editor with content about your event. You can also include images and links in this area.

How to Register: Use the sample text as a guide to put information in about how to register for your event, including a link to your website where tickets can be purchased. If you do not charge or require registration, delete the copy in this section.

Registration Fees: Enter event ticket cost (e.g. $35 in advance, $40 at the door)

Phone: Enter your phone number in the format (330) 123-4567

Email: Enter the general or most appropriate email address for people to contact you about the event.

Website: Enter your website address in the format: http://www.yourwebsite.com and make sure to include the “http://”

Twitter: Enter your Twitter account in the format: http://www.twitter.com/yourusername. Tip: If you are uncertain what you should put here, go to your twitter feed and copy the web address.
